Comcast’s Commitment to Metro Detroit: A Conversation with Jennifer Jambor

Guest blog by: Jennifer Jambor, Government & Community Affairs, Metro Detroit

Q: Comcast has invested in Metro Detroit for decades. What does being a community partner mean to you?

Jennifer: Our region’s strength has always come from people coming together to solve challenges and create opportunities. That's how we approach our work at Comcast. Being a community partner means making long-term investments that help residents, businesses, and neighborhoods thrive. Over the last three years we’ve invested over $2.3 billion in Michigan, including capital expenditure in our network and infrastructure. At the same time, we support local nonprofits, small businesses, and community organizations because we know connectivity alone isn't enough, lasting impact comes from strong partnerships and a shared commitment to the region’s future.

Q: How is Comcast helping connect Michiganders to opportunity?

Jennifer: Reliable internet access is essential for participating in today's economy. Through Internet Essentials, more than 1.4 million residents in nearly 400,000 Michigan households have gained access to low-cost, high-speed internet, helping families connect to education, healthcare, jobs, and other vital resources over the last ten years. We've also expanded digital opportunities through partnerships with local nonprofits and Lift Zones, which provide free high-speed WiFi and connectivity in community spaces. These efforts are designed to help ensure Michiganders have the tools needed to succeed in an increasingly digital world.

Q: Why are partnerships so important to Comcast's work in Metro Detroit?

Jennifer: Some of the most impactful work happens when the public, private, and nonprofit sectors come together around a common goal. A great example is Project Greenlight, our partnership with the City of Detroit and the Detroit Police Department, which leverages connectivity and real-time video technology to help support safer business corridors and neighborhoods. We see our role as more than a technology provider. We're a partner working alongside community leaders to help strengthen economic opportunities, public safety, and quality of life across Metro Detroit.

Q: What are you most proud of when you look at Comcast's impact in Detroit and Michigan?

Jennifer: I'm proud that our commitment to the region extends far beyond our products and services. Comcast is a proud American company committed to connecting people to the moments that bring us together. Our team of employees across Michigan live and work in the communities we serve, which makes this work deeply personal.

Whether we're expanding digital opportunities, supporting local events, or partnering with community organizations, our goal is simple: be a trusted, long-term partner that helps strengthen the communities we serve while building a stronger more connected future.
